The AHB Symposium - Innovate to Accelerate is set to convene health sector leaders from across Africa at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Nigeria. This conference aims to discuss and develop strategies to accelerate the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across the continent. With a focus on enhancing government funding for healthcare and advancing regulatory harmonization, the symposium will also explore the growing interest of the private sector in health initiatives. Despite some progress, many countries in Africa are still behind in achieving UHC, which aspires to provide comprehensive health services to all individuals whenever and wherever they need them. However, access to essential healthcare services, particularly concerning non-communicable diseases, reproductive health, maternal, newborn, and child health, continues to fall short of the desired targets on the continent. The symposium will address these pressing challenges, which include epidemics, antimicrobial resistance, and the impacts of conflict and climate change that hinder sustainable health solutions.
